UTILITY MANAGEMENT TRAINING ONLINE

Ohio RCAP is pleased to announce that two of our board training courses, 101: Utility Management for Local Officials and 201: Financial Management for Local Officials, are now online!   We now offer these courses both in the classroom and online.

As with our classroom courses, there are three parts to each course.   The online courses are self paced and interactive.  You can stop at anytime and it will remember your place when you return.  These courses are also approved for Ohio EPA operator contact hours.

To take an online course, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to oepa.360water.com.
  2. Click on "login" to create your account.
  3. After creating your account, log in and click on "RCAP Local Officials".  You will then see a course index.
  4. Select the course you wish to begin.

Each one of the three parts of the two courses has three items listed.  The first is the online course itself.  Following are copies of the toolkit reference materials for each part in PDF format and a zipped toolkit for you to download.

As you take the course, you will be prompted to take quizes.  These are helpful when it comes to passing the exam at the end. You need to get 100% correct to complete the exams.  Once completed, a timer will run until you will be able you to print your certificate of completion. The time is due to OEPA operator contact hour requirement. The certificate is proof that you have completed the course. Remember!  There are three parts to each course, so you need three certificates for an entire course.

Beginning with the 2013 program year (now), any water system receiving Principal Forgiveness from the Ohio EPA Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund will be required to have at least 50% of it's council or governing board members complete the Utility Management and Financial Management for Local Officials courses.  The members must show proof of attendance at a classroom course, or participation in the on-line courses within the past five years. Questions about this new requirement can be addressed by calling OhioEPA DDGW at 614-644-2752. OhioEPA Fact Sheet

Questions about the classroom or online courses can be addressed to Ohio RCAP's Nadine Thompson at 1-800-775-9767 or Tom Fishbaugh at 419-332-2032.
